Periphery – Periphery V: Djent Is Not a Style
Of all of the bands to emerge out of the early-2010s explosion of Meshuggah-loving bands and Sumeriancore hyper-compression, Periphery stays probably the most enduring. That is by their mix of technical mastery and pop sensibility, together with their insistence on not taking themselves too critically. This isn’t my favourite album from them (Periphery 2 stays undefeated), however “Wax Wings,” “Every part is Advantageous!” and “Zagreus” are whole bangers.
