Right this moment, 7 July, sees the discharge of the third and fourth in a sequence of half-speed mastered studio albums from The Who: The Who Promote Out and Tommy.
These limited-edition black vinyl variations have been mastered by long-time Who engineer Jon Astley at Shut To the Edge and minimize for vinyl by Miles Showell at Abbey Highway Studios with a half-speed mastering method which produces a superior vinyl minimize. Each albums are packaged of their unique sleeves with a libretto (Tommy), a psychedelic poster (The Who Promote Out) and with obi strips and certificates of authenticity.
Launched in 1967, The Who Promote Out was the third album launched by the band and is revered for being one of many first idea albums, celebrating the short-lived pirate radio stations of the late 60s with its groundbreaking use of pretend adverts and jingles between songs.
Spotlight tracks embrace ‘I Can See for Miles’, ‘Armenia Metropolis within the Sky’ and ‘Tattoo’, and it has been mastered by long-time Who engineer Jon Astley from the unique tapes and is housed in its unique sleeve with psychedelic poster, obi strip and certificates of authenticity.
Considered some of the necessary albums of all time, Tommy is a rock opera a few deaf, dumb and blind boy, which, when launched in 1969, reached #2 within the UK charts and #7 within the US. The two-LP album contains songs akin to ‘Pinball Wizard’, ‘The Acid Queen’ and ‘See Me, Really feel Me’ and it has been mastered by long-time Who engineer Jon Astley from the unique tapes. It’s packaged within the unique triple-gatefold sleeve with the 12-page full-colour libretto.
