Typically it takes an outsider to point out us what our faults are. Whereas self-absorption isn’t a trait distinctive to these within the US, it feels as if Individuals take this to new extremes. Swiss rock singer and songwriter MattO clearly loves each America and Individuals, and so it’s with each bemusement and compassion he turns his satirical pen on the US, in his newest single, ‘It’s All About Me’.
Recorded on the Lakehouse, in Ashbury Park, New Jersey, ‘It’s All About Me’ is a portrait of an American, striving to be successful, who has turned his again on his neighbour and is chasing his personal objectives. It’s a witty character examine, whereas not being malicious or contemptible.
The video for ‘It’s All About Me’ focuses on the phrases of the music, a lyric video created by MattO’s frequent collaborator, Marcello Bumbica. The confessions of the narrator are super-imposed over pictures of MattO at work on his music, surrounded by his devices, in addition to photographs of the glass towers of New York, and the metal bridges of New Jersey. It’s a super backdrop for a dramatic story about American enterprise.
