Press launch:
Opera North has introduced Professor Edward Venn of the College of Music, College of Leeds, as its new Educational in Residence. He’ll spend a 12 months on the Firm bringing collectively various voices from the performing arts and academia for a sequence of discussions, occasions and an exhibition specializing in race, ethics and illustration in operatic storytelling.
A part of the revolutionary DARE collaboration between the opera firm and the College, Professor Venn’s programme of exercise begins this Thursday 6 October with a webinar, Telling Operatic Tales: Race, Ethics and Authenticity, as a part of Leeds Arts and Humanities Analysis Institute’s Sadler Sequence.
Professor Venn’s publications are on the music of Hugh Wooden and Thomas Ades, neither of them terribly various.
