Omega Auctions has listed a pair of leather-based shorts, owned and worn on stage by late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, heading to public sale on April 25. They’re anticipated to promote for £8,000 – £12,000.
Description:
A pair of tailor-made leather-based shorts (see photographs for measurements) owned and worn by Freddie Mercury, most notably onstage through the encore for Queen’s second sold-out night time on the Birmingham Exhibition Centre, December 6, 1980. This event is cited in ‘Queen – As It Started’ by fan membership secretary Jacky Gunn and Jim Jenkins (a replica included within the lot).
They write “Freddie determined to attempt to shock the viewers together with his stage outfit for the encore: the shortest , tightest pair of black leather-based shorts he may discover – they did not depart a lot to the creativeness, however nobody complained…”
The shorts have been bought by the seller at a Queen Fan Membership Public sale in Southport, 1993. The lot contains the unique signed letter of authenticity from fan membership secretary Jacky Gunn.
