“Egocentric Soul”
Sudan Archives is a singer, songwriter, producer, and violinist. She grew up in Cincinnati earlier than transferring to LA. Her music has been known as “viscerally beautiful” by The Guardian, and “beautiful” by Pitchfork, who gave her in ‘Finest New Music.’ This 12 months, she’s releasing her second album, and one of many tracks on it’s “Egocentric Soul.” She instructed me the thought for this tune began when she requested her boyfriend, James (who’s the rapper Nocando) to shave her head. Chopping off her hair made her replicate on her entire hair story, from experiences she had as a child, to the cultural and racial points which have traditionally surrounded Black girls’s hair.
